Ka-chew! is the commercial spot making venture of Klasky Csupo Inc. owners Gabor Csupo and Arlene Klasky. In recent years it has emphasized its own special brand of live action and animated commercial making. Practical effects, unusual live shooting techniques, a broad range of drawn and digital animation techniques -- all these together characterize the studio's output. Plus our facility includes a full 2D and 3D animation studio, two Final Cut Pro systems, a Smoke online suite and a professional recording and mixing studio where all of our award-winning programs have been produced.
The management team is headed up by executive producer/creative director John Andrews. John joined ka-chew! in 1998 after 5 years at MTV where he produced Beavis & Butt-Head through its TV run and feature incarnation as well as launching such series as Daria and Aeon Flux and helping to oversee Liquid Television and Cartoon Sushi.
Ka-chew! has its roots in Klasky Csupo’s founding as a commercial studio a quarter of a century ago. The commercial side has been maintained as the studio grew into a series and feature powerhouse with such productions as The Simpsons, Duckman, The Rugrats and The Wild Thornberrys. As the business diversified, cross-pollination occurred. A Rugrats feature director ended up designing signature characters for Campbell’s Soups. Another one designed a cow for Boddington’s beer. A Wild Thornberry’s character designer came up with the design of Mr. Mucus. Character launches for Pepperidge Farm, Burger King, and Joy Liquid have balanced with artistic adult fare including Matisse-like animation for Beano and line art characters for Kashi. CGI, 2D animation and several style of live action pixilation and stop motion flesh out the studio’s range. In addition there has been ongoing, often humorous, motion graphic work – recently for Nip/Tuck and The Simple Life and in previous years for The Osbournes, The Anna Nicole Show, MTV’s Punk’d, Clueless, In Living Color and many others.
